The Maryville University class of 2020 had a unique experience, to say the least.
With no on-campus graduation ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to do something special to mark their accomplishment. So we recruited some friends to deliver a special message.
In order of appearance: Dr. Mark Lombardi, president of Maryville University; Joe Buck, broadcaster for Fox Sports; singer/songwriter Brian Owens; former St. Louis Cardinals player and MLB Hall of Famer Ozzie “The Wizard” Smith; Maryville University Board of Trustees chairman Ed Ryan; three-time Olympics track and field gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee; former Olympics gymnasts Bart Conner and Nadia Comăneci, who hold a total of seven Olympics gold medals between them; former St. Louis Blues player and Hockey Hall of Famer Bernie Federko; current St. Louis Cardinals manager and 2019 National League Manager of the Year Mike Schildt; Dan McLaughlin, voice of the St. Louis Cardinals for Fox Sports Midwest; and president of the St. Louis Sports Commission Frank Viverito.
